2008 News so far

Posted by: Turning Bear

Jan.- I have a new web master who is taking the baton from my former web master, who has had too many other responsibilities than to work on my site. I am very grateful for all that Mike has done for the web site and I can’t thank him enough.

Feb.- I almost completed a commissioned oil painting for Dr. Laura, which is a view of the Flathead valley in Montana looking into the Rockies of Glacier National Park. I am thankful that she was willing to let me keep it in my Whitefish studio until I return from my Tucson studio in mid May to complete it. See the photo below.

Mar.- Glacier Bank of Whitefish purchased three of my pieces to hang in their new branch. They bought one original and two giclee’ prints on canvas. It is an honor to me that my work was chosen. I send my appreciation to them!
We are working on follow up from the PGA Show for those who have shown interest in having their signature hole painted at their golf courses.
Lynne, my wife, had her hip replaced on the 26th and is healing quickly. This is the last of the surgeries that she should have because of a wreck we were in on black ice hidden by dusted snow. All glory and thanks is given to our Lord who has lead to her healing . The story of the wreck and all that followed would be a small book showing that God was in total control all the way up to now. I/we give God all the praise for all of the details.

Apr.- I finally finished a graphite sketch of Christopher, the son of our former web master. See the photo of it below.
I celebrated my fifteenth anniversary of my thirty ninth birthday. (54th )

May- Lynne and I are Tucson at this point and hope to land some commission jobs before we leave for Montana in a couple of weeks, as the Lord wills. This is also a great time for Lynne to heal from the surgery in the warmth and low humidity.
We are looking for a gallery to represent my work in Tucson and Scottsdale. The competition is great and there are a lot extremely talented artist out there.

PGA Merchandise Show 2008

Posted by: Turning Bear

PGA Merchandise Show
The PGA Merchandise Show 2008 in Orlando, Florida went well. There were supposed to be anywhere from 60 to 80 thousand registered golf club owners, buyers and professionals coming. The show room floor is so large that the average amount of booths visited by individuals is about 28. We were in one of what seemed like thousands of booths. We, Lynne, my father-in-law Lou White and I were busy talking with a lot of people and handed out as many brochures which are downloadable from the SIGNATURE HOLE FINE ART page. The show of interest was approximately twenty strong and we are still doing follow up via e-mail and phone.

As the Lord wills,
we have made plans to return next year for the Show and hope to have commission jobs confirmed right in the spot. PGA 2008

PGA FALL EXPO

Posted by: Turning Bear

Lynne and I are in Tucson after a great trip to the PGA FALL EXPO in Las Vegas and a vacation with family in Florida. At the Expo, we had a 10 x 20' booth to present examples of original art work and how reproductions can be made for tournament prizes, member gifts and hole-in-one awards. The event was big in every way with an estimated 4-5 thousand representatives of golf clubs and resorts. We made a lot of connections and in January, plan to go to the PGA EXPO in Orlando FL which is even larger. This we will do only if the Lord wills us to. James 4:13-17

Today I hung the art work at the Glacier National Bank of Whitefish on the corner of Hwy 93 and Baker in downtown Whitefish, Montana. All are framed and ready to hang in your home or your other favorite place, like your office? The Bank is having a “hat drawing” for a print of mine matted and ready to frame and it will be drawn the last day of the show.

The reception will be August 10th with a Huckleberry Ice Cream taste testing which is the day before the Whitefish Huckleberry Festival. I hope to see you there.

There was a great reception and a lot of visitors came to view the art work and talk with the artists.

The show at The Loft in Whitefish, MT has been extended through to the end of July. I have 23 original oils on exhibit.

I hope that you can visit one or both of the shows and enjoy the beauty of the Flathead Valley.

Successful Show!

Posted by: Turning Bear

The First Thursday Art Walk in Whitefish was a great success where Lynne and I saw many friends / collectors and met some new ones. I only wish that I could have talked with all that seemed to want to talk to me. It was a healthy show of visitors and a lot of positive comments about the show. The photograph was taken just before the doors opened for the viewing.
A painting called
“The San Juan Mountains” sold to a couple who are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary and they are giving it to each other in celebration. I am very honored!

Thanks to all who did come and to those who will be coming to The Loft and especially to the buyers of my painting.
